Located in Nanjing, the ancient capital, China Pharmaceutical University, founded in 1936, is the first national pharmaceutical institution of higher learning in Chinese history. The university is a multidisciplinary and research-oriented university directly under the Ministry of education, the national "211 Project" and the "985 Project advantageous discipline innovation platform". Among them, the construction of pharmaceutical discipline group led by pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine has always maintained the domestic leading level, and is known as the "cradle of Chinese Biomedical talents". The university is committed to building a world-class modern pharmaceutical discipline system guided by "big pharmacy +x" and characterized by "new pharmacy". There are 16 departments, 31 undergraduate majors (classes), 3 first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization points (pharmacy, traditional Chinese medicine, Biology), 1 doctoral degree authorization point (biology and medicine), 8 first-class discipline master's degree authorization points, 5 Master's degree authorization points, and 2 post doctoral mobile stations (Pharmacy, traditional Chinese Medicine). In the fourth round of national discipline evaluation, pharmaceutical discipline was awarded a+. In 2022, the ESI of pharmacology and toxicology, chemistry, clinical medicine, biology and biochemistry, material science and agricultural science ranked among the top 1% in the world, among which pharmacology and toxicology ranked among the top 1 ‰ (2.4 per 10000), ranked 26th in the world and 1st in Asian universities. In the 2022 US News World University Rankings, pharmacology and toxicology ranked 13th in the world and 1st in Asia. In the world university ranking Center (cwur) discipline ranking, pharmaceutical chemistry discipline ranks third in the world. Among the best disciplines in China in 2021, pharmacy and traditional Chinese medicine ranked first and second in China respectively, and both entered the "top disciplines in China".
The school actively serves the major national strategies and continuously improves the independent innovation ability of new drug research and development. It has established the National Key Laboratory of "active components and efficacy of natural drugs", the provincial and ministerial Key Laboratory, the engineering technology center and the innovation platform, realizing the full coverage of the scientific research platform in the three fields of chemical drugs, traditional Chinese medicine and biological drugs, and providing all-round services for the research and development of all kinds of new drugs. It has established substantial academic cooperation with institutions and scientific research institutions in more than 40 countries and regions overseas.
